The Eat better, not perfect core values

At Eat better, not perfect, we stand for something. If we want to achieve our mission to be the most impactful life-quality improvement movement in the world, we have a lot of work to do. But hard work alone is not enough, we need to be guided to go in the right direction. That's why we have collectively chosen a set of core values to live by and that truly guide our every action.

In total, we have 7 core values. These evolve over time in how they are acted upon, but at the core, they stay the same. Here they are, in no particular order:

1) Create a positive impact

We are here to serve our community members and improve the lives of the people around us.

The only way we can grow and make a bigger impact on the health of millions of people is to provide the best customer experience, where every interaction matters, since every moment is an opportunity to positively influence people to live better lives.

Being an inspiration for other people will make all the difference. Therefore, we practice what we preach.

2) Leadership through action

We are all leaders, even if we might not always realize it. And our leadership shows through our actions and hard work, but also doing the best we can in communication, how we organize our day, how we give feedback to our colleagues, how we interact with our members...

This also means taking initiative and responsibility for our actions, no matter if they are part of our role or not.

3) Do the right thing

If we listen to our guts, we are most likely to do the right thing. If we feel our action or advice might not be the best for the client/colleague/company, we are probably right.

Telling the truth is the right thing to do, even though it might not be the most comfortable. This is also applicable to our interactions with our community members. When a client wants to have exceptions that we know will not lead to results, we need to make that clear to them since this is simply the right thing to do.

4) Be humble and be a lifetime student

Being humble means understanding that we don’t know everything, in fact, the more we learn, the more we understand how much more there is to learn.

It also means that we don’t have all the answers nor do we need to have them all as long as we are willing to go find things out.

It means that we actively seek out to get better and acquire new skills on a very regular basis. This obviously goes beyond the company borders, also in our free time. Things like picking up a new book, watching an educational youtube video, listening to a podcast… the options are limitless.

We aim to always be curious to understand the bigger picture instead of going through the motions without giving it a second thought. From every interaction, there is something to learn, perhaps a different view, something that could be applicable for all our other community members.

5) Build positive and fun relationships

We all know we are happier when we are in a place we can collaborate and have a little bit of fun. This makes life so much easier and much more motivating to go the extra mile with the awesome group of colleagues we have.

This means not only to joke around but also to back each other up in difficult moments.

This is however not only inside Eat better, not perfect but also towards the customers.

There, our policy is to "Be yourself", being a real human that people will appreciate.

6) Good isn’t enough, excellence is essential

We always need to be on the lookout for things we can do better, and we know this is a skill that requires time and practice. If we catch ourselves saying "ah, it's good enough", we need to be careful because we might be about to do something sub-standard.

7) Be loyal

Being loyal comes in multiple domains, and we believe that it is crucial to be loyal to:

  • The Eat better, not perfect vision: believe that it is possible to achieve our mission

  • Our customers: we are here to help our customers and community members succeed

  • Each other: we have each other's back, at all times

  • Ourselves: We can only thrive if we are true to ourselves

I hope this gave you some insight into how we operate as a company, what we are really about and what matters to us. These core values are in everything we do. It doesn't mean we are perfect in them, but at least we are working every day to get better ;)
